The SouthShore Center provides a wonderful place for area residents to meet, learn and be active. The vitality of the center continues to expand after nearly 10 years. The SouthShore embraces the principle that healthy and artful living results from socialization, purposeful volunteer activities, continuing education, physical and mental activities.

Activities, services and programs include health screening, exercise and dance classes, tax assistance and a wide range of cultural and educational opportunities from craft activities, watercolor classes, history lectures, bridge, to book discussions groups.

The SouthShore Community Center principally serves the residents of Deephaven, Tonka Bay, Greenwood, Excelsior and Shorewood. This facility was built with support from the five cities and community contributions.

We welcome your tax deductible financial contributions via the Shorewood Parks Foundation to further SSCC initiatives, including additional classes, youth programming, adult enrichment, and lifecycle recreation opportunities for all our citizens. Consider designating a memorial in our future on-site garden or urge your teen to fulfill their graduation volunteer hours requirement at the Commuity Center, working at the reception desk, helping with light landscaping needs, technology assistance, or event coordination!

The SSCC is also available for rent which benefits operating funds. Fresh interior updates and improvements are planned including new flooring, and paint to enliven the facility.

Under New Management
The SouthShore Community Center is operating under “new” management.  After several months of uncertainty and discussion, the Cities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay reached an agreement allowing the City of Shorewood to manage the facility.  Shorewood has entered into a contractual agreement with Community Rec. Resources to handle the day to day operations, scheduling and programming at the Community Center.

The City of Shorewood has made a commitment to the senior community to continue to provide and expand enrichment programs and activities. Moving forward the SSCC will build upon its proven program base by offering new additional activities for all ages.
